My little boy is going through a bit of Peppa Pig obsession lately. His first words in the morning are – you guessed Peppa Pig!
With all this pig obsession I rediscovered a super cute book I’ve had for years – The Pig of Happiness by Edward Monkton. If you haven’t read it, it’s a sweet story of how a once ordinary pig, but grumpy one decides he’s had enough of being ordinary and that he’s going to become EXTRAORDINARY!
“I shall see the BEST in EVERYONE and the BEST in EVERYTHING”.
“I shall become the PIG of HAPPINESS.”
Each day he did just that and became so happy, his happy energy just poured out from him and was contagious.
It can be so easy to get stuck focusing of what’s wrong in our lives or not working and kind of stay there moaning and not doing anything about it.
Just like the pig decided to become the Pig of Happiness, by consistently changing his perspective on everything, what he thought and how he was with others, his wish came to pass!
It’s healthy to acknowledge the negatives in life so you can make a plan to transform them, or change the way you think about them.
Think about what you’re not happy with and ask yourself why and how it’s effecting you and your life?
Then decide what you are going to do about it.
No matter what is getting you down, always get back to bright side of your life, what’s good, what’s working and what you’re grateful for.
A great little habit in bed before sleep is to think about 3 things in your day that brought you a smile, a laugh, a feeling that life IS good. Whatever it is. A beautiful sunset, a yummy cake, a conversation.
And importantly do it especially when you think you’ve had a bad day. For sure there are probably some little sprinkles of light if you look.
Go an step further and write them down. Start a diary and then at the end of each week look back at all the good stuff that happened in your week. It’s easy to forget, isn’t it?
Especially if something comes along and blows us off track.
Hope that helps you think a little differently about your life.
