My little boy LOVES halloween and can't wait to dress up. Thinking about dressing up and pretending to be someone we're not got me remembering a post I wrote a few years ago about how we all can put on an invisible mask and pretend to be someone we are not.
Why? Maybe to feel more accepted, to please others, maybe to not stand out, maybe for fear of criticism, failure or fear of what other people may think.
We all can be someone we think we should be or other people think we should be.
It takes courage to be authentic, to fly your own flag, to have a voice and stand for something. To live by your integrity.
So ask yourself:
Who are I being?
And who am I capable of being?
Who you are capable of being is often very different from who you are being and often the source of much frustration, self-sabotage, anxiety, self-criticism and feeling lost.
I love this quote by Jay-Z. He said:
“Knowing who you are is the foundation of everything great”.
I think we can add to that - knowing who you are capable of being, is where it's at.
The you deep down that has secret dreams, passion projects, ideas, potential yet to be fulfilled...get on the path to becoming the YOU, you want to be.
Take a step. A baby step. And you're on your way.
Start becoming the person you are capable of being.
